Evaluation framework for children's contact centre

Children’s Contact Services (CCS) were implemented through the Australian Attorney General’s Department to provide children with safe spaces to visit non-residential parents when parents cannot manage their own contact arrangements. These are supervised environments where interactions with parents can take place and where oversight for the transfer of a child from one parent to another, in circumstances where parents are unable to manage time arrangements amicably, are sustained.

Centre for Better Relationships is currently developing a research framework that is child focused and explores their experiences after accessing a CCS. We are looking to gather insights from our CCS staff, parents and significant others in the child’s life, and of course, the children themselves.

Through interviews and metric measures, we are hoping to provide an evidence base that will be used to continually inform and improve our CCSs. Better Place Australia currently has Children’s Contact Services Narre Warren and Children’s Contact Services Sale.

More to follow as our work unfolds.
