  • Intensive, long term early intervention support (informed by a child centric, family systems approach);
  • Short term information, referral and assistance for families and carers, and;

To be considered for appointment to this role, prospective candidates must possess an appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Behavioural Sciences or other related field together with relevant professional work experience in the mental health field.  The appointee will possess demonstrated experience in providing assessment, case management and support to children, young people and their families in the context of mental illness and a proven ability to demonstrate resilience in the face of complex client risks and systemic challenges.  Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential as are sound engagement and rapport building skills.  Strong needs and risk assessment skills are also essential together with the ability to work both individually and as part of an integrated team.

2019 and beyond will see Better Place Australia continue to expand our footprint and the breadth of our service delivery.  Central to our success in doing so is the effective leadership of our Corporate Services division.  Reporting directly to the CEO, this key Executive role is responsible for the strategic direction and operational excellence of Better Place Australia’s finance, administration, governance and risk and compliance functions. The role is available on a part-time basis (0.7 FTE) and hours can be tailored to suit the individual. Based at our corporate head-office in Cheltenham, the appointee can also work from our Narre Warren or Chadstone sites upon agreement with the CEO.

To be considered for appointment to this role prospective candidates will be tertiary qualified in Accounting and possess full membership of a recognised accounting body (CPA/CA).  Extensive senior managerial experience in a Finance leadership role is required ideally gained from within the health and community services/not for profit sector.   Substantial and broad experience in flexing between both strategic and operational deliverables is essential as is demonstrable evidence of effectively leading a range of corporate service functions.

  • Conduct interviews with clients over the phone and provide triage services as required;

The Role

The role involves the provision of psychological services predominantly through the Accessible Psychological Interventions (API) program funded by the South/East Primary Health Network. This will involve the provision of assessment and treatment of a variety of psychological conditions across a broad client group including families and children.  With excellent supervision and clinical governance systems in place, this role is part of a multidisciplinary team of practitioners working in a collegiate and learning environment.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Provision of assessment & treatment by way of individual, group and/or family sessions;
  • Development of Psychological Treatment Plans (PTPs), Reviewing progress of PTPs and the outcomes of sessions, supports and strategies,
  • Referral of clients to alternative support services where appropriate and liaise with related practitioners
  • Develop and delivery group sessions where appropriate,
  • Develop networks and strengthen referral pathways in the region. 

Required Professional Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered as a Psychologist, with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), or;
  • Qualified and Registered as a Credentialed Mental Health Social Worker and eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), or
